The public transport in Paris makes it a simple city to navigate

Getting There

The two major aiports in Paris are Aéroport D'Orly and Aéroport Roissy Charles de Gaulle and are serviced by carriers from around the world. Both airports are connected by regular train services to central Paris.

Getting Around

The public transport system in Paris is widely regarded as world class. The Metro train network is easily navigated with all lines numbered and colour-coded to make it especially easy for tourists.

The final destinations on lines are well sign-posted so you should always know in which direction you're heading when looking for a platform. The RER Network also runs through central Paris but stops less regularly. It does, however, travel further out of town.

Tickets

As a visitor the best ticket you can buy is the ParisVisite which allows you to use the Metro, RER, buses, trams, SNCF overland suburban trains, the Montmartre funicular, Montmartobus, Noctilien and the Optile bus network.

It also has discounts for some sites in Paris. Depending on what you need, the duration of your ticket can be 1, 2, 3 or 5 days. There are also two different zone options but if you're planning to spend most of your time in central Paris go for zones 1-3. You can buy the ParisVisite at most train stations.
