Travel Guide: Switzerland Food & Drink

Cheese and chocolate are the order of the day in Switzerland

Whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner you'll probably find youself chowing down on some of Switzerland famous cheeses. Emmental is the the stereotypical 'hole-y' Swiss cheese and gruyère is the prime ingredient in fondue.

The Swiss take their chocolate very seriously — consuming record amounts of the stuff (and even handing it out free to the Swiss army).  Don't leave without sampling some yourself.

Eating out

You'll fast run out of money if you eat out at each meal in Switzerland. Budget travellers can find decent hot meals in chain department store cafés. Migros is Switzerland's largest chain. Pick up some cheese and bread for breakfast or lunch while you're there.
