To look at Berlin now you would never guess that it was razed by the Allies during World War II and then cruelly divided along political lines throughout much of the ensuing Cold War. Since the wall came down in 1989 Berlin has been re-united and re-invigorated to the extent that it is arguably one of the most dynamic and exciting cities in Europe, if not the world.
