If you're a powder hound, we've got one word for you this week - Austria.
Snow-wise, the second half of the season belongs to the north-eastern Alps, and Austria has had the best of it. February was fantastic, and it looks as though March will be pretty good too, with more snow to come at the end of the week.
Lech clocked up another 10cm over the weekend, and the snowpack is at least 1.6m deep, even on the lower slopes.
It's March remember, and when the sun comes out, it tends to warm up pretty quickly. It's going to be warm and sunny until Thursday, in fact, when the first of the fresh snow arrives.
Elsewhere in the Alps, conditions right now are very similar.
Last week was superb with fresh snow in many places, low temperatures and January conditions. Anyone who was out there (including this snow reporter), had a fantastic experience.
Now, we're back to spring, with temperatures shooting up in the valleys, and the snow softening on lower pistes. You need to start skiing tactically as a result: stay high, and on north-facing slopes at the start of the day, then follow the sun around the resort, skiing the pistes about 30 minutes after the sun's hit them and the icy patches have softened. Don't forget your sun block, and take a camera - the scenery will be leave you breathless.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, conditions are very mixed. In Canada, Whistler is getting its winter at last, but in Colorado, the horrible heat has returned.
Temperatures will be up to +10C all week in Vail, for example. This worries us. The Met Office is predicting 2009 will be an exceptionally warm year, and this could be where it starts.
Of course, it's far too early to say what next winter will be like, but all the same, just to be on the safe side, shouldn't you be skiing now?
