UK names Spain as top spring destination to visit solo.

Thanks to over 5,000 miles of coastline and vast opportunities for sailing and cruising, Spain has topped the list of destinations to visit alone this spring, according to tourbar.com - a travel dating website and app

UK members (14.7%) named Spain as the country they were most likely to visit alone this spring. Following Spain’s lead was Greece, where 12% of UK travellers named it their top solo destination partly because of the promise of stunning beaches and traditional Greek cuisine. Continuing the short-haul travel theme, Italy secured the third spot (9.8%) for its designer shopping, delicious cuisine and the ability to fly from the UK in just a few hours. Meanwhile the Netherlands was the fourth most popular destination (7%) due to sightseeing opportunities and busy calendar of events and concerts.

Elsewhere the Dominican Republic was named the most popular long-haul destination this spring due to its beaches and sightseeing opportunities. Staycations in the UK took the joint sixth position alongside Cyprus (6%). Spring is often a popular time for UK travellers to plan breaks close to home owing to the long Easter weekend and two bank holidays in May.

Additionally, Mexico secured the 8th place (5.8%) for its sightseeing, foodie and beach credentials. Closer to home, France (3%) was named the ninth most popular destination for sightseeing and short breaks and Malta secured the 10th place (2%) for cruising and its beaches.
