If you're thinking of heading off on an adventure in 2014, make sure you read STA Travel's list of top tips...
More accessible Indonesia: Garuda will be launching a new direct service from LHR to akarta in Spring 2014. This will open up a whole range of possibilities for travel to the many islands of Indonesia, and with the obvious snappy connections to Bali being a real boon, we should also see some great development of tourism in the rest of the country. Expect to see more people heading to Sumatra and Java for exploration, hiking and great coffee!
Edinburgh air expansion: Scotland’s largest airport continues to grow and will see more services in 2014 to the USA with services to Chicago and Philadelphia starting in the spring, as well as Qatar Airways starting a five times weekly services from Edinburgh to Doha.
Learn a new skill as you travel: A new arrival for 2014, STA Travel’s 'Volunteer, Work, Learn' programme now has new 'learn a skill' options. This include: learn to surf, dive or sail, plus courses on how to become a ski instructor, surf instructor, how to sail or become a game ranger. Learn to surf courses start from £85 for a three-night course in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa; learn to dive courses from £561 for a five-day PADI Open Water course in Cairns, Australia.
