Gorillas to Zanzibar 28 days

Commencing with a trek to view the mountain gorilla and with every opportunity to see the big five and more in some of East African's best known game parks: the Masai Mara and the Serengeti. On the way experience the cultures and stunning geography of East Africa - Lake Victoria and the source of the white Nile, the Rift Valley, the vast savannah plains before finishing with a trip over to tropical Zanzibar island to relax on the pristine white beaches. 

Gorillas to Zanzibar 28 days

Days 1 - 4 


Meet up in Kigali, Rwanda's capital city, Genocide Memorial and Museum, Kisoro.

Optionals:Visit to Dian Fosseys grave, mountain gorilla trek in either Parc National des Volcans (Rwanda) or Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Uganda), trek to golden monkeys, orphanage visit, Batwa (Pygmy) village visit.

Days 5 - 10

Lake Bunyoni, Masaka or Mpanga Forest, Jinja, free day by the White Nile.

Optionals: Canoeing, whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, kayaking, voluntary work in a local school, quad biking, horse riding, sunset cruise on Lake Victoria.

Days 11 -12

Lake Nakuru National Park, game drives.

Days 13 -16

Orphanage visit, Lake Naivasha, Masai Mara game drives

Optionals: Cycling safari in Hells Gate National Park, guided walk to Green Crater Lake, Elsamere for afternoon tea, balloon safari, Maasai village visit.

Day 17

Morning game drive, Masai Mara, Nairobi

Optional: Night out in a Nairobi restaurant.

Day 18 

Travel across the Athi Plains through to Arusha at the foot of Mount Meru.

Days 19 - 21

Free time to allow for your choice of safari in the Northern Circuit game parks. With evening celebratory barbecue for the final night on our return from the game parks.

Optionals: Afternoon and morning game drives in the Serengeti National Park, afternoon drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation area, morning game drives in Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge Museum, cultural walk.

Days 22 - 23

Two days drive to Dar es Salaam on the Coast, with the chance of views of Kilimanjaro on the way. Seafood barbecue at our camp by the Indian Ocean and preparations for the stay on Zanzibar Island.

Days 24 - 28

Free time for a 4 night stay on Zanzibar Island....

Optional beach break: Optional free time to stay on Zanzibar Island from day 22, returning to Dar es Salaam on day 26:

Talk with us as to the special arrangements we can make for your accommodation staying in beach cottages and the traditional capital, ancient Stone Town and other requirements on the Island including transfers and spice tours.

Other options to budget for include snorkelling and scuba diving on Zanzibar's untouched coral reefs, a visit to Prison Island famous for its giant tortoise population and to Jozani Forest to see the red colobus monkeys.

All accommodation and transfers with a spice tours on Zanzibar Island can be arranged ahead of time.

Please note safari itineraries are given as a guide only. A safari is a journey and true journeys in Africa unfold and are of an adventurous nature. The unexpected can arise, so do allow for this.
