The Big Six 51 Days

Nairobi to Victoria Falls - The chance to see the Big Five and more! Visiting the mountain gorillas, and game park after park - Masai Mara, Serengeti, Queen Elizabeth, Nakuru, South Luangwa and Ngorongoro Crater. Visiting magical Zanzibar and beach campsites by Lake Malawi. With adventure action white water rafting and bungee jumping on the White Nile and by the Zambezi River where we finish at the Victoria Falls, Mosi Oa Tunya - the Smoke that Thunders! 

The Big Six 51 Days

Days 1 - 3 


Departure meeting, Giraffe Park, Rift Valley, morning and afternoon game drives and overnight camp in The Masai Mara.

Optionals: Sheldrick's Elephant orphanage, night out at Carnivores restaurant or similar, Maasai Village, balloon safari in the Masai Mara.

Days 3 - 7

Lake Naivasha, game drives in Lake Nakuru National Park, Eldoret.

Optionals: Hippo cruise, Elsamere for afternoon tea, cycling in Hells Gate National Park, guided hike to Green Crater Lake.

Days 8 - 13

Jinja, The White Nile and Bujagali Falls, Kampala, Lake Victoria.

Optionals: White water rafting, village walk, bungee-jump, kayaking, boat trips, volunteer work in a local school, quad biking, horse riding, chimpanzee trekking in a Ugandan Forest.

Days 14 - 16

Equator stop and drum markets, Mbarara, Queen Elizabeth National Park including a game cruise and game drive, Kabale.

Days 17 - 19


Optionals:Mountain gorilla trek in either Parc National de Volcans (Rwanda) or Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Uganda), golden monkey trek, visit to Dian Fossey's grave, orphanage visit, Batwa (Pygmy) village.

Day 19


Optionals: Genocide Memorial and Museum

Days 20 - 25

Mwanza, Game drives in the Serengeti, The Grumeti, with guided game drives in Ngorongoro Crater, Mto Wa Mbu markets, evening celebratory barbecue on our arrival in Arusha.

Optionals: Game walks and evening game drives in the Grumeti, Olduvai Gorge Museum.

Days 26 - 27

Two days drive to Dar es Salaam on the coast, with the chance of views of Kilimanjaro en route, seafood barbecue at our camp on the indian Ocean when we arrive, and final preparations for the stay on Zanzibar Island.

Days 28 - 32
TANZANIA -5 days allocated for Zanzibar Island....

Free time to allow for an optional four night stay on Zanzibar island from day 28, returning to Dar es Salaam on day 32.

Talk with us as to the special arrangements we can make for your accommodation staying in beach cottages and the traditional ancient capital, Stone Town, and your other requirements inciuding transfers and spice tours.

Other options to budget for include snorkelling and scuba diving on Zanzibar sweeping coral reefs, to Prison Island famous for its giant tortoise population and to Jozani Forest to see the red colobus monkeys.

All accommodation and transfers including spice tours on Zanzibar Island can be arranged ahead of time.

Days 33 - 34

Drive through Mikumi National Park, Chitimba, Lake Malawi beach camp.

Days 35 - 38

Lake Malawi beach camps, village visits including for a traditional meal and curio markets.

Optionals: Water sports, horse riding in and by the Lake, Livingstonia hike, school visit, a village meal and dancing.

Days 39 - 41

Lilongwe. Cross the Luangwa River en route to Lusaka.

Optional: Lilongwe Wildlife Centre.

Days 42- 44

Into the Zambezi Valley to relax by Lake Kariba.

Optional: A houseboat cruise on the Lake including guided game walks, a game cruise and fishing.

Days 45 - 47

Antelope Park, a private game reserve.

Optionals: Lion walks, playing with cubs, horse rides, elephant rides.

Day 48

Into Bulawayo, the capital of the Mashonaland Province, to visit Matopos National Park for a rhino trek and game drives.

Optional: Extra game drives.

Days 49 - 51

Four night stay at Victoria Falls.

Optionals: Elephant rides, bungee jump, gorge swing, abseil, flying fox, white water rafting, 'flight of the angels' over the Falls in helicopters and microlights, breakfast drift canoe, sunset cruise, interactive drumming and many other activities based around the Victoria Falls.

Further itinerary notes:
Be aware this safari can finish on either the Livingstone side of the Zambezi at Victoria Falls or the Zimbabwean side.

Flights can be arranged either from Livingstone, on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls for the end of this safari where there is an international airport in Livingstone. Alternatively flights can be organised out of the Victoria Falls, Zimbabwean side. Extra visa and transfer costs apply if you need to cross the river to fly out. We will arrange transfers to either airport from the campsite where we finish.

Please note safari itineraries are given as a guide only. A safari is a journey and true journeys in Africa unfold and are of an adventurous nature. The unexpected can arise, so do allow for this.
