The Classic Safari, Component 37 Days

From Kenya to Victoria Falls to experience the extraordinary diversity of wildlife in game park after game park, from the Rift Valley lakes, across vast savannah plains. With days on exotic Zanzibar Island to relax on white beaches, snorkel and scuba dive. Visit the Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Nakuru National Park and The Elephant Orphanage, Visit local villages including fishing villages in Malawi and the Maasai. Take a hippo cruise, walk with lions, rhino trek, elephant riding, white water rafting on grade 5 rapids, gorge swing and bungee! 

The Classic Safari, Component 37 Days

Days 1 - 2 

KENYA

Pre-departure meeting in Nairobi, visit to a local women's bead factory before heading to the Rift Valley, then Lake Nakuru National Park for game drives and a visit to a children's orphanage.

Days 3 - 4
KENYA

Lake Naivasha.

Optionals: Hells Gate National Park, Crater Lake Sanctuary, Elsamere for afternoon tea, Hippo cruise.

Days 5 - 7
KENYA

Masai Mara, game drives.

Optionals: The Giraffe Park, Sheldrick's Animal Orphanage.

Days 8 - 11
TANZANIA

Arusha, with evening celebratory barbecue on our return from the game parks.

Optionals: Afternoon and morning game drives in the Serengeti National Park, afternoon drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation area, morning game drives in Ngorongoro Crater, Maasai Village, Olduvai Gorge Museum, cultural walk.

Days 12 - 18
TANZANIA including 4 nights allotted for Zanzibar Island....

Dar Es Salaam, the chance of views of Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam camp by the Indian Ocean and seafood bbq.

Optionals: Free time to stay on Zanzibar Island from day 15, returning to Dar es Salaam on day 19:

Talk with us as to the special arrangements we can make for your accommodation staying in beach cottages and the traditional capital, ancient Stone Town and other requirements on the Island including transfers and spice tours.

Other options to budget for include snorkelling and scuba diving on Zanzibar sweeping coral reefs, to Prison Island famous for its giant tortoise population and to Jozani Forest to see the red colobus monkeys.

All accommodation and transfers with a spice tours on Zanzibar Island can be arranged ahead of time.

Days 19 - 23
TANZANIA - MALAWI

Mikumi National Park, Lake Malawi beach resorts, fishing villages and curio markets.

Optionals: Water sports, horse riding in and by the Lake, Livingstonia hike, school visit, a village meal and dancing.

Days 24 - 26
MALAWI - ZAMBIA - ZIMBABWE

Lilongwe. Cross the Luangwa River en route to Lusaka.

Optional: Lilongwe Wildlife Centre.

Days 27- 29
ZIMBABWE

Into the Zambezi Valley to relax by Lake Kariba.

Optional: A houseboat cruise on the Lake including guided game walks, a game cruise and fishing.

Days 30 - 32
ZIMBABWE

Antelope Park, a private game reserve.

Optionals: Lion walks, playing with cubs, horse rides, elephant rides.

Day 33
ZIMBABWE

Into Bulawayo, the capital of the Mashonaland Province, to visit Matopos National Park for a rhino trek and game drives.

Optional: Extra game drives.

Days 34 - 37
ZIMBABWE

Four night stay at Victoria Falls.

Optionals: Elephant rides, bungee jump, gorge swing, abseil, flying fox, white water rafting, 'flight of the angels' over the Falls in helicopters and microlights, breakfast drift canoe, sunset cruise, interactive drumming and many other activities based around the Victoria Falls.

Further itinerary notes:
Please note we can finish this safari on either the Livingstone side of the Zambezi at Victoria Falls or the Zimbabwean side. We would advise that flights can be arranged either from Livingstone, on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls for the end of this safari where there is an international airport in Livingstone. Alternatively flights can be organised out of the Victoria Falls, Zimbabwean side. Do note extra visa and transfer costs apply if you need to cross the river to fly out. Transfers can be arranged to either airport from the campsite where we finish.

Please note safari itineraries are given as a guide only. A safari is a journey and true journeys in Africa unfold and are of an adventurous nature. The unexpected can arise, so do allow for this.
