Beautifully decorated boats float down Tuojiang River to a thundering drum chorus, signalling the start of this annual race, which attracts about 100,000 spectators.
The winning boat is adorned with an extravagant dragon head and victory flag. The spectacle is an all-day event, with dumplings and local rice wine to keep your spirits up.
