"After days of sunny weather, clouds rolling in provided the chance to snap this crab without the light reflecting off the volcanic rock and ruining the photo. Knee deep in water and one hand gripping the wharf, I finally pulled off this wicked shot. I love the contrast between the bright colours of the crab and the dark grey of the lava flow. I shot it with a large aperture (f1.7) so only the subject is in focus. The Sally Lightfoot sure does pop!"
Roan Ferron from Sydney

First prize is a three-day tour of Scotland for two worth £218 from Haggis Adventures. Your break must be taken within three months of receiving prize letter. The runner-up wins a £60 photography course voucher from Nigel Wilson Photography.
