More than 1500 guests turned up to a teenage girl’s birthday party, after she forgot to set her Facebook invite settings to private.
About 100 police officers with horses were called out to keep the crowd under control in Germany.
A spokesman for the Hamburg police said
that 11 people were temporarily detained, several girls wearing
flip-flops cut their feet on broken glass and a rubbish bin was set on
fire at the 16th birthday party in Hamburg.
Spokesman Mirko
Streiber said that the birthday girl, identified only as Thessa, fled
the party and hid, but that “nonetheless the party was quite a hit”.
It
was similar situation for an Australian teenage girl in March when a
17-year-old boy hijacked the girl’s Facebook page and posted an open
invitation to her 16th birthday party that drew more than 200,000
positive replies.
The girl’s shocked parents quickly removed the
page from the Facebook site – and police vehicles patrolled the street
on the `party’ night.
The boy was charged with using a telecommunications carrier to harass or offend someone.
