Entrepreneur and cat lover Lauren Pears has begun searching for venues and claims to have found 15-30 cats that will ‘staff’ the cafe, which she hopes to open by the end of May.
Cat Cafés are hugely popular in Asia, with customers able to buy coffee, tea and food while interacting with cats who roam freely around the cafés.
The concept will be aimed at people who live in small apartments and who are therefore not able to keep pets of their own.
Patrons will be able to sit back and stroke the resident cats whilst they eat and drink.
Playing with cats is a well documented way of relieving stress and lowering blood pressure.
Sounds like the purrfect place for a pick-me-up on a Monday morning.
