Name: Jonathan Wall
Company: Elman Wall Travel Accountants
Title: MD and Founder
About the company: We are a full service accounting, tax, audit and advisory firm which specialises in the Travel Industry. We don’t want to be the biggest, we just strive to be amongst the best…and that shows in everything that we do.
How did you get into your line of work?
Didn’t know what to do after Uni,so trained as an accountant. Happened to like it, and 25 years later….
What do you do day-to-day?
I’m very lucky-it feels like I drink coffee and wine with fantastic people all day long. I build and develop relationships with clients and potential clients and run our business. My team don’t let me have audit or tax software on my computer, as they do those much better than me.
What’s the most exciting part of your role?
Not knowing what the next phone call will bring.
Give us an overview of what you’ll be discussing at ABiC:
How to make more profit in your business and create real value. Getting people to think about why they are in business and what’s their game plan.
What type of companies/individuals will find your talk relevant?
Everyone I hope, but mainly owners and directors.
How will they benefit from it?
Allowing people to think ON their businesses, not IN their businesses.
In your field, what exciting developments will 2012 bring?
All the excitement in travel in recent years has been negative (Ash/Strikes/APD/Operator failures etc) so no disasters please in 2012, and a fabulous Olympics of course.
How best can the travel industry use social media and the internet?
Capturing the hearts and minds of their consumers and demonstrating value.
What’s your favourite travel destination?
Everywhere, but especially Vancouver.
Where’s your favourite place in London?
Sum up the capital in five words:
Best city in the world.
