The Aerosmith singer, who famously kept his drugs close at hand wrapped in his trademark microphone scarves, revealed his his astonishing consumption of Colombian marching powder during the interview, which will be broadcast this weekend by Channel Nine in Australia.
Interviewer Liz Hayes confronted Tyler with the rumour that he’d made his way through around $20 million bucks worth of coke – but Tyler helpfully confirmed the amount he’d actually hoovered up, saying “Realistically, 5 or 6. But it doesn’t matter. You also could say I snorted half of Peru, but it doesn’t matter.”
However, having successfully kicked the incredibly expensive habit, Tyler has been clean and sober now for over 20 years, not including a small bump in the road with an addiction to prescription drugs in the late noughties.
Aerosmith, who formed in Boston, have been rocking around the world since 1970 and hold the record for the best-selling American rock band of all time with album sales of more that 150 million.
