Karen Elaine Harrelson, 48, and Gregory L. Stambaugh, 57 have both been arrested over the drunken argument which turned violent after the couple found themselves each supporting a different finalist in the finale of this year’s American Idol.

According to the affidavit, procured by CBS, Stambaugh told authorities that Harrelson had begun drinking at 5am and continued drinking “a lot of beer and tequila” throughout the day. A claim Harrelson refuted, saying she only started drinking at noon and that her poison had been “a pint of scotch”.

It is not clear who was for one of the contestants, Candice Glover and Kree Harrison, and who was for the other but as the argument got more heated, both allege the other went drunkenly into the kitchen and grabbed a knife.

Then, apparently, they turned stabby.

So, not only could they not agree on who should be America’s next idol, they couldn’t even agree on who stabbed who first.

When the police responded to a call, they found both Stambaugh and Harrelson out on the front porch of their house, bloodied but not unbowed, still arguing away most vehemently.

According to an inmate roster at the York County Prison, both Stambaugh and Harrelson are being held, having both been hit with aggravated assault charges.

It seems while the physical wounds were fairly minor, the rift in their relationship runs much deeper.
