The latest record from Kentish folkie Wood matches him with three other musicians, creating the well-worn quartet line-up of, er, acoustic guitar, drums, cello and trombone.

It’s unlikely on paper but beautiful in practice, thanks to some delicately understated playing by all concerned.

It helps that Wood’s songwriting has never been better; Hollow Point, his retelling of the Jean Charles de Menezes saga, is one of the most powerful protest songs in years.
