Rumours recently emerged that Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy are trying to reclaim their old band name from the trio of latecomers who are currently recording under it.

The current Sugababes line-up contains no original members and it’s said that the former ’Babes are interested in getting their old show back on the road.

It’s possible, though, that they’re simply trying to avoid having their names associated with any more embarrassment along the lines of Sweet 7, easily the worst Sugababes’ record yet.

The problem’s obvious: by trying to keep up with R’n’B trends, the current ’Babes succeed only in sounding terribly dated.

The beats are anonymous at best and blunt at worst – Wait For You has all the fizzy dancefloor appeal of an elephant in hiking boots.

The production is flat, and not even the liberal use of vocal processing techniques can disguise the fact that none of them really has much of a voice.

Keisha, let ’em keep it.
