The Futureheads’ second album proved too difficult for most record-buyers, and their third sank even faster.

The Futureheads’ fourth record, The Chaos, attempts to remind listeners of indie-rock radio what they liked about them
in the first place, and to
some extent it succeeds:
the likes of Struck Dumb
and I Can Do That come
with sledgehammer choruses.

Still, this kind of post-punk pop offers few surprises and yet surprise is exactly what it needs to thrive.
