I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here is set to welcome a 13th contender, with This Morning presenter Alison Hammond poised to join the jungle camp.

Beyond winning the competition, Hammond is also hoping her stint in the jungle will help her shed a few pounds.

“It’s not the best way to lose weight, but it would be great to lose a stone,” she said. “I’ve been on a diet for the last six weeks and I have already lost a stone and a half, so if I can lose some more pounds, that will be fantastic. I can’t wait to be smaller and I really hope I will then be able to keep the weight off!”

The quick fame of reality TV is nothing new to Hammond, who appeared on Big Brother in 2002.

Meanwhile, former Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder has indicated he may quit the programme tonight after completing a full week.

Ryder knocked off his first Bushtucker Trial earlier this week but has told his fellow campers that Friday could be his exit date, with jungle life starting to take its toll.

He said: “I might bail because it’s not like taking the money and running, is it? I’ve done a full week.

“It’s doing my nut in. If I do two weeks, they’ll have to take my shoelaces off me.

“I accomplished what I had to do by coming in here so I’m not really bothered. I’ve got nothing to lose by going out.”
