Just Jack (Mercury)
The fact that All Night Cinema was delayed at least twice suggests that Jack Allsopp’s label is far from confident about the reception that might greet the album’s release. It’s right to be nervous. There are a couple of catchy tunes here, but they’re surrounded by what amounts to an unconvincing 45-minute impression of Lily Allen. Allsopp comes across as a likeable chap; if only he was more confident in his own identity to show it on record.
