Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse has been “retired” from performing “indefinitely” by her manager after her shambolic, drunken comeback show in Serbia, the Sun reports.

Manager Ray Cosbert cancelled Winehouse’s eleven remaining European dates after the singer reportedly sneaked alcohol backstage at her recent show in Belgrade before making a massive fool of herself and might not be back onstage “for years” a source told the tabloid.

Winehouse’s recent public meltdown was apparently the final straw for Cosbert who has spent many years nurturing her career.

"It has been hard for Ray to watch her get into trouble over the years," a source said.

"There's only so much he can do – but enough's enough.”

Despite the blues singer's protests about going to rehab in her famous song it now looks like Winehouse has no choice.

"She's going away and this time it could be for years,” the source said.

Winehouse has been dogged by problems with drug addiction and alcohol abuse since the release of her five-grammy winning Back to Black album was released in 2007.
