Guests can look forward to an evening of enchanting tales about Bill’s expeditions including his quest to find the source of the River Oxus in Afghanistan as well as entertaining and inspirational excerpts from Scraps of Wool – a soon-to-be published travel writing book, inspired by many fellow explorers and travellers from around the world.
Taking guests on a vicarious journey through one of the unstable regions of the world (without them having to leave their cosy arm chairs in Mr Fogg’s humble Mayfair abode), the event will be held next Monday (11 January 2016) and will begin with a 30-minute talk from Bill at precisely 6.01pm followed by a 30 minute Q&A.
Bill Colegrave is an esteemed travel writer and explorer, who has travelled to more than 110 countries around the world. In 2011, Bill wrote and published Halfway House to Heaven, which documents his expedition to find the source of the River Oxus within the Wakhan Corridor and Pamir Mountains of Afghanstan. Bill is currently writing Scraps of Wool, a collection of inspiring passages, stories and moments from adventurers, explorers and the world’s greatest travellers, that will be published in 2016 by Unbound.
Bill is the in process of creating the collection of passages that have inspired others to travel for Scraps of Wool and would like the help of the audience at his talk on 11 January. Guests can bring their own choices of passages or books that have inspired and excited them. Together, you can help build the book.
