A new company called 100 Mile Run hopes to change the demographics of ultra runs. Their August event, the Cotswold Way 100 Mile Challenge Run, will take place from August 2-5 2013. Participants will run 102 miles over 4 days from Bath to Chipping Campden against the scenic background of rolling hills and cream-coloured Cotswold stone villages.
Because there are no time limits, participants can run, jog, walk or wobble their way along the trail. Each day, they’ll run to a new campsite that has been set-up with tents, ice baths, sports massages, food, drink and other entertainment.
100 Mile Run hopes to bridge the gap between marathon running and ultra marathon racing events. While running 50 or 100 miles non-stop is often too ambitious for most fun runners, the ultra marathon breaks up the challenge of running 100 miles into four days. Director Rick Morgan says anyone who is reasonably fit and healthy can accomplish this ultra marathon.
It isn’t until August, so start training now. You can sign up by visiting www.100milerun.com.
