Australia has made some big calls, bringing in all-rounder Steve Smith instead of David Warner and handing a debut to Ashton Agar, the 19-year-old left-arm spinner.
Ed Cowan will bat at three and Phil Hughes at five, either side of skipper Michael Clarke.
“I would have batted but I don’t mind bowling, there should be a bit of swing with the new ball and you’ve got to take 20 wickets,” Aussie captain Clarke said.
On David Warner being left out, Clarke said his lack of match practice after being suspended was the main factor.
England opener and skipper Alastair Cook will stride out to try and put the Aussies on the back-foot straight away.
““Hopefully on this wicket we can put a good score on the board,” he said.
