Session 1: James Pattinson took the prized scalp of England skipper Alastair Cook, Johnathan Trott looked slick and Joe Root found his range before Peter Siddle rearranged his stumps with a yorker, bringing Kevin Pietersen to the crease. Eng 2-98

Session 2: KP brought up England’s 100 but Siddle soon found his edge. Trott kept cruising until he dragged Siddle onto his stumps, and was mighty unpleased about it. Johnny Bairstow and Ian Bell were on the attack, but Bell edged to Shane Watson at first slip and keeper Matt Prior found Phil Hughes in the covers – Siddles had five-for. Eng 6-185

Session 3: Stuart Broad looked dangerous before he shanked a pull shot off Pattinson and the bowler caught him for 24. Bairstow copped a beauty from Starc making his off peg do backflips and Steve Finn nicked to Haddin to put Starc on a hattrick. When Graeme Swann dollied one to Hughes that was the England innings done. Eng 215

Shane Watson and Chris Rogers opened for the Aussies and after spritely start Watson found Root at third slip off Finn’s bowling. Ed Cowan had a shocker chasing Finn off his first ball and edging to Swann. Clarke copped a peach from James Anderson for a duck leaving the Aussies 2-23. Steve Smith joined Rogers, who was unlucky to be given LBW for 16. Smith loved it though and is on 38 at stumps. Aus 4-75
