At a press conference held inside the embassy, the Wikileaks founder said: “I can confirm I am leaving the embassy soon.
“But not for the reasons the Murdoch press and Sky News are saying at the moment.”
The 43-year-old has been holed up in the embassy in Knightsbridge for two years after being granted political asylum from Ecuador.
He faces investigation in the US over the publication of leaked security and diplomatic documents during 2010, and the British government also wants to extradite him to Sweden to face allegations of sexual assault.
