In a tongue-in-cheek display, nationally-touring Blues Rock act Transvaal Diamond Syndicate have launched their virgin crowdfunding run, offering up $5 moustache rides to willing punters of all ages, genders and creeds.
The energetic trio are hoping to raise $10,000 in 40 days to help cover the expenses of recording a new double EP to be released later this year. At only $5 a moustache ride the band is looking at some 2,000 rides to make bank, enlisting a chapstick sponsor to help the cause.
The foray will see the band travel down to Sydney this week to record a Rockier EP with Daniel Antix (Gay Paris, Born Lion) at Def Wolf Studios and team up with Phil Graham (Head of Music QUT) at Gasworks Studio in Brisbane for the Bluesy EP later this year. This project is a different one for the group this time around and will see them separately acknowledge the different influences within the band.
Transvaal Diamond Syndicate have chalked up some 250,000kms and done close to 1000 all-original gigs over the last 6 years as they earn their place as one of the hardest working bands in the country with a solid contribution to the Australian Blues Rock scene.
Amongst the crowdfunding campaign and moustache ride mayhem also comes some pretty serious touring for the back half of the year with the band getting back on the road from August until early November. TDS will release a new track and single entitled ‘The River’ soon and visit NSW, QLD, VIC, WA and NT on the back of the double EP drop.
