England’s humiliation was completed at the SCG when they were bowled out for 180.
The tourists started the day without Captain Joe Root after he was hospitalised suffering gastroenteritis and dehydration. He did manage to play but retired on 58 after lunch. This was followed by Pat Cummins taking 3 fast wickets bringing the score to 119-8. Jimmy Anderson was then caught behind to end the day, the fifth test and the Ashes series.
Will England manage to regain the Ashes next year back on home soil? We shall see!
The fifth test ended England 346 + 180 to Australia’s 649-7 declared.
