Paramedics are on their way to the police station to check on the baby’s health but he is said to be safe and well.
The baby’s father, Steven Hume, remains on the run after allegedly snatching the baby at knifepoint from its mother, reports News.com.au
It is understood he was taken to the police station by his aunt, a sister of Steven.
A 1000-strong serach party had been out, including officers from the tactical operations unit and the dog squad, dense bushland near Bargo, off the Hume Highway south of Sydney, after Hume’s black Toyota Camry was found crashed into a tree.
Zhaiden’s mother Casey Mifsud, 16, had been living with her father. Hume had been watching the house and waited until Mr Mifsud went out before armed with a knife, he broke in, forced Ms Mifsud and the baby into his car and drove off.
It is alleged Ms Mifsud was assaulted before she escaped to a nearby home to raise the alarm.
