The collapse was said to have occurred between Embankment and Waterloo – the Bakerloo line is now suspended between Piccadilly Circus and Elephant and Castle.

The fire brigade and ambulance service are in attendance, though no-one is believed to have been injured in the incident.

TFL have now officially denied that the tunnel has collapsed and some reports say that the problem is merely an obstruction near Embankment.

The current description on TFL’s website reports that the Bakerloo line is “suspended between Piccadilly Circus and Elephant and Castle due to an obstruction in tunnel at Embankment. Severe delays on the rest of the line.”

Despite the collapse coming during a 72 hour strike by tube maintenance workers, TfL says it’s response to the incident has been unaffected.
