Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward’s pseudo-successful indie folk outfit She & Him have made some snappers somewhat unhappy at a recent gig of theirs at the Toronto Urban Roots Festival (TURF) when they tried to ban the use of mobile phone cameras during the show.
New Girl star Zooey Deschanel has become the latest in a fast-growing string of performers asking fans to view their gigs through their eyes, rather than their phones.
A sign was fixed outside Toronto Urban Roots Fest this month reading ‘At the request of Matt and Zooey we ask that people not use their cell phones to take pictures and video, but enjoy the show they have put together in 3D instead’.
However, if Twitter was anything to go by (and it usually is) the polite request didn’t sit with fans too well. Some complained that security guards shone torches into the faces of the first few rows to see if they were using their phones. Not exactly a great way to enjoy the show, ey Zooey?
