Tory MP Andrea Leadsom, who was contacted by parents after their children had watched it, said: “I was embarrassed when I watched. It was like a blue movie.

The educational film shows – with the use of computer generated effects – a couple having sex, and talks about masturbation, wets dreams, as well as showing a naked man and woman withi their young daughter to illustrate the difference between bodies.

Education Minister Nick Gibb has said of the issues raised over the DVD: “I’m taking these concerns seriously. I have asked to see the material before deciding what we should do next.”

The BBC though have responded robustly saying that the DVD carries clear instructions about its age-suitability and that it is to allow teachers to pick which elements they feel are appropriate for their audience.
