Belgians love to eat out and take pride in their cuisine. Food here is fresh and well presented and Belgians place equal importance on lunch and dinner.
It is also the home of some of the world’s best chocolate so don’t forget to pack your sweet tooth (and your toothbrush!).
Food you must try in Belgium:
- Mussels in Brussels, just because it rhymes
- Chips (frites), mayonnaisse and a big beer by a canal in Bruges
- A hot waffle with chocolate and whipped cream
- Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate
Drink
If you love beer then you’ll love Belgium. The beer is excellent and it is everywhere — plus the variety is huge.
Trappist monks brew Belgium’s famous Trappist beers. These brews are dark in colour and very potent — some up to 12 per cent alcohol!
