Anti-veg menu
What better time to celebrate your commitment to being a carnivore than National Vegetarian Week, on May 20-27? The Big Easy on King’s Road is offering a special ‘mighty meaty’ menu to commemorate the occasion, with three courses of dead animal costing £39.95. Choose from the likes of a 700g, 21-day aged sirloin steak, baby back ribs and chicken wings. Put some colour in your cheeks!
Mexican feast
Camden’s Cafe Chula has long been a firm fave among fans of Mexican food and drink, but this month’s supperclub is a great opportunity to sample the best of what the cute corner of Camden Lock Market has to offer. Three courses and five cocktails are a darn decent £45 on Thursday May 30, with each dish matched to tequila-laced tipples. Now booking.
Tea at ‘Houses of P’
To have yourself a quintessentially English overload this summer, try out a tour of the Houses of Parliament, which has just added afternoon tea in the House of Commons to its itinerary. The usual dainty delights – think salmon and cream cheese sarnies, scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, plus a selection of teas – are served up in the Commons’ historic Pugin Room with a view over the Thames.
Tour tickets are £16.50, and an afternoon tea add-on will set you back a not unreasonable £19.95. Available June 1-August 24. Book ahead.
