Wholey cow
Beef plus beer will always equate to a happy foodie, but Byron and Camden Town Brewery are taking things a step further this month with their Wholey Cow event.
On Aug 30 and 31, those meaty maestros from the burger chain will be serving every possible part of a cow at the brewery’s HQ, cooking up everything from shin, cheek and tail chilli to sliced, slow-cooked short rib and burgers. And you can wash the feast down with Camden Town’s craft brews and Byron’s Bloody Bull cocktail – a Bloody Mary with beef bouillon substituted for half the tomato juice. Epic. Cooking from 6pm-11pm on the Friday and noon-11pm on the Sat.
Sausage party
Now from beef to pork, and most would agree no one does sausage quite like the Germans. So it’s lucky for Londoners that a new branch of wurst joint Herman Ze German has just opened on Old Compton Street. Get your hands on Berlin’s famous currywurst and order up a side of sauerkraut. Think of it as training for Oktoberfest. Open seven days a week.
Reef, beef and bubbles
Let’s round off with some surf and turf – but not as you know it. For an almost unfeasibly reasonable £15, Drake & Morgan pubs are offering half a lobster, steak, chips, salad and a glass of bubbly. The Reef, Beef & Bubbles deal is on until the end of August, so nip in quick if you want a lavish meal on the cheap. Find D&M pubs in south and east London (locations online).
