Barker was supposed to play tonight at Sydney’s Allphones Arena, but backed out of the flight at the last minute.
In a Facebook post, Barker wrote:
“I’m sorry to announce i won’t be joining Blink-182 on this Australian tour. I still haven’t gotten over the horrific events that took place the last time i flew when my plane crashed and four people were killed, two being my best friends.”
Barker was due to play at the rock music festival Soundwave as well as a few sideshows around Australia,
He had previously been touring with the band around Europe via various sea vessels, but couldn’t organise one that catered to his schedule this time around.
Blink-182 will play with replacement drummer Brooks Wackerman.
A post on Blink-182’s Facebook page explained the remaining two members of the band were still keen to show Australia what they’re made of, “We love our fans in Australia so cancelling (sic) was not an option so we still plan to come and play some kick ass shows.”
