An embarrassing blooper that saw a Wellington footpath named as Old Road instead of Old Bullock Road has had a happy outcome.
The sign in suburban Highbury has been given to the Prostate Cancer Foundation and is likely to be auctioned off to raise funds.
The mispelled sign was replaced on Tuesday.
Wellington City Council spokesman Richard MacLean told NZPA the error was “astounding” and someone had obviously not read the old sign too clearly.
He said giving the sign to Prostate Cancer would raise awareness for the charity.
