The uniformed female constable was keeping watch at a recent youth event in Sydney’s Martin Place when an older man who was already dancing approached and encouraged her to have a boogie.

With no hesitation she stepped into the middle of the small, approving crowd and showed off some flamboyant moves to a pulsating dance track.

Footage of the dance has been posted and shared across a number of websites, with one user calling the officer the coolest in Australia.

But it’s not the first time police officers have been caught dancing – far from it.

A British male officer performed a now famous breakdance as the London Olympic torch parade passed through Sevenoaks, southeast England, last year.

A US traffic cop was recently filmed dancing as he directed cars during last year’s Democratic National Convention in North Carolina.

And a policeman was filmed dancing at an event in Taupo, on New Zealand’s north island in February.
