The body of missing New Zealand man, Johnny Sleigh, has been found in the River Thames.

Tragically, the 36-year-old went missing on May 8th after a night out with his mates in Holborn.

Johnny’s friends and family led a massive search for him and it was hoped he would be found alive and well.

Police think that Johnny fell into the water off Hungerford Bridge and are not treating the death as suspicious.

Johnny’s parents, Peter and Caroline, thanked the community on behalf of the family, saying: “We are very sad that our precious son is no longer with us.

“The days since Johnny went missing have been some of the most difficult in our lives as we waited for news from the other side of the world.

“We very much wanted Johnny to be found alive, but to our great sadness this has not turned out to be the case.

“It is a parent’s hope their child will return safely from travels abroad and a parent’s nightmare that something happens while they are away.”

Our thoughts are with Johnny’s family and friends.
