The Dorset beach came fourth in the Trip Advisor poll behind Turkey’s Oludeniz and Icmeler and Majorca in the Balearic Islands. it also moved up from third to first in a best beach of Britain poll, closely followed by Jersey’s St Brelade and Woolacombe in Devon.
Trip Advisor’s Emma Shaw said of the news: “‘Not only has it been named the UK’s best beach destination, up from third place last year, it’s also ranked ahead of almost every Mediterranean beach destination.’
