David Bowers posted a photo of himself on Bradford City’s Facebook page holding a sign that reads “My wife says if I get 1 million Likes I can go see Bradford City at Wembley (I live in Australia).”
Bowers is already well over the quarter of a million mark as Facebook users spread the word through Shares and Likes.
“I’m originally from Bradford and now live in Melbourne , Australia, but i have been a city fan for as long as I can remember, please help me get to Wembley just like our awesome BRADFORD CITY!” says Bowers in the Facebook post.
“This is not about getting to Wembley to see BRADFORD CITY win, but more for the fact that In years to come I will be able to look back and say ‘I was there’ when Bradford went to a CUP FINAL, WIN, LOSE or DRAW, this is history in the making.” he explained.
League 2 underdogs Bradford City, a team put together for £7,500, have battled their way to a historic spot in the cup final.
“These lads will be remembered in the history of Bradford City for years to come,” said proud Bantams manager Phil Parkinson, following this week’s impressive victory against Aston Villa.
“There’s a 1911 lounge at the club to celebrate the cup victory of that year. Well, in years to come, there will be a lounge named after this cup run and these players because of what they’ve achieved.
“To go to Wembley is going to keep the club going for quite a while, I imagine. For the city of Bradford, it’s massive and I really feel that this can galvanise the area.”
