Lola, resides on the first floor balcony of the Arab Cultural Centre in the Belgian capital of Brussels, where she performs in plays.

Police however have been forced to intervene after the animal’s braying disturbed the cultural centre’s neighbours, and Lola’s owner has been told to move her inside.

Lola’s owner however has proven to be as stubborn as the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse.

“No, I will keep on taking it outside every day so it can breathe. And if they do not agree, they can take me to jail,” Hawa Djabali told Reuters.

According to bigpondnews.com one of the people who live on the floors above Lola agree that the donkey’s braying can get rather annoying. They, however also say that the donkey provides a great deal of entertainment and merriment for the children.

“I have a 12-year old little girl at home. She’s happy to see it [Lola], it’s true. When she saw it, she was very happy,” Gracinda Martins reportedly said. “I still don’t think it’s normal though.”

Normal? No, that’s fair to say. Still, people are allowed to keep tarantulas and snakes, which sickens my stomach to its core.

Anyway, police have threatened to confiscate the animal if Mr Djabali doesn’t comply with their edicts to take it back inside.
