Toast is bustling little café with a pretty long queue, where the waiter was quick to inform us “we don’t do numbers, but I’ll give you a duck”.
So there we sat, with a tiny purple toy duck waiting with the other patrons, and their ducks.
The grub: Once your duck is called, the food is fast and the drinks are divine.
A Red Head juice ($6.50) or tall Iced Coffee ($5.90) are both something to return for. Eggs and Toast ($10.50) are a great choice, cheap and cooked perfectly.
The Egg White Omelette with Roasted Capsicum ($18.50) was the most perfectly crafted piece of food I have ever been served, if only it tasted a little more like omelette and less like roasted capsicum.
Pick an old classic like Eggs Benedict ($15.90) and you’ve got a win.
Bill please: Although the unusual and unexplainable tea service charge of $2 had us bemused, Toast has some very well priced meals with a nice view – all round an enjoyable start to your Sunday.
