Website Cosmic Book News is reporting that Cranston has signed on for the superhero movie role with a total of six appearances across following films in the series.

While this casting rumour has been met with approval, the same could not be said for Warner Bros announcement last week as to who would play Batman in the Superman sequel.

Ben Affleck was announced as the new Bruce Wayne for the movie which is to go into production next year for a 2015 release and which will see Henry Cavill’s Superman face off against Affleck’s Batman.

“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular super heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill and then some,” said Warner Bros President Greg Silverman in a statement of the decision.

The decision though has been criticised widely by fans with tens of thousands of them signing a petition to have the Hollywood actor dropped from the role.
