Spears’ addition to the revamped judging panel is being called ‘the worst-kept secret in TV’, after rumours of a deal surfaced over the past few months. According to reports, the pop princess’s fiance Jason Trawick and dad Jamie Spears have signed the $15 million contract, as they are Britney’s conservators.
The first season of X Factor USA garnered disappointing ratings, leading series creator Simon Cowell and his team to dump judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
Replacements Spears and singer-songwriter Lovato will join LA Reid and Cowell on the judging panel.
Entertainment experts are mulling over the consequences of Spears – who has been relatively media-shy since entering into her conservatorship – dealing with the unpredictable environment of live TV.
