Bruges in 1-2 days

Day 1

Take a long stroll through the town, starting at the Markt and head to the south side of the square to wander through the canal-side streets, walking over the pretty St Bonifaciusbrug bridge. Check out the collection of Flemish artwork at the Groeninge Museum. After this, get a table at one of the many restaurants and treat yourself to some chips and mussels for lunch. Before the sun sets, take a walk up the Belfort to see the town from above as the skies colour the city in a magnificent hue of pink (weather permitting of course). Finish your day with some beer drinking in one of the many boozers, trying the most outrageous flavours you can find.

Day 2

Check out the sombre Heilig Bloed Basilik church then lighten the mood by drooling over the many shop windows around Bruges that are filled with chocolate. After finding a shop that takes your fancy, pop in and select a box of chocolate treats. Do a lap around the city on a horse-drawn cart. Head to a local restaurant for some traditional, hearty Flemish food and finish your evening with a show at the Stadsschouwburg theatre.
