At least eight people died and 34 were injured when the bus exploded at Burgas airport, 250 miles east of Sofia, according to the BBC.

The Israeli defence minister has blamed Lebanese Hezbollah for the attack.

In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested Hezbollah had carried out the attack in league with Iran, saying: “All the signs lead to Iran. Israel will respond forcefully to Iranian terror.”

Bulgaria’s interior minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, said the suspected bomber was carrying a Michigan driver’s license, believed to be a fake. He added that this would be sent to the FBI for authentication.

Israel already suspects Iran of being behind a number of attacks on Israelis outside of their country in February.

Netanyahu said: “Only in the past few months we have seen Iranian attempts to attack Israelis in Thailand, India, Georgia, Kenya, Cyprus and other places.

“This is an Iranian terror attack that is spreading throughout the entire world. Israel will react powerfully against Iranian terror.”
