Williams announced this week he was to leave the All Blacks to return to Australia to play with the Sydney Roosters. It comes after he broke contract with the Bulldogs in 2008 to play rugby union in Toulon, in the south of France.

Dogs supporters took to online fan forum, The Kennel to vent their anger at Williams’ disloyalty.

‘Bad Billy’, urged All Blacks player Frank Pritchard to make him pay.

“I want Cranky Frank to shoulder charge him in the face, then take a dump on his lifeless body. I’ll pay Pritchard’s wages for the length of the resulting suspension if he does that for me.”

‘Hansta’ was more mild-headed. He wrote: “”We are a more complete team without him now. It’s great we don’t rely on any sole player. SBW will do that to any team, whoever he joins. It’s a comfort zone we don’t need.”

Williams’ ‘handshake agreement’ with the Sydney Roosters is reportedly worth $A800,000 for one season.

A condition of the agreement is that Williams is allowed to continue his boxing career, with a bout in South Africa, plus play a lucrative 12-game season in Japanese club rugby, before showing up in Sydney a month before the season starts.

Roosters Chairman Nick Politis has refused to say whether or not Williams will be fielded when the Roosters meet the Dogs. That could be interesting.
