“A really positive outcome from this project is the additional accommodation opportunities that it provides, may allow people seeking accommodation to avoid unregulated backyard operators,” said Cr Ross Sommerfeld from the council.

“The building will comprise of 12 rooms each with eight beds and five rooms each with six beds on the first floor while the ground floor will have two rooms each with two beds as well as a backpacker kitchen, lounge and dining areas.

“The ground floor will also incorporate a TV room, manager’s office, reception and laundry and male and female bathroom amenities.”

Cr Sommerfeld said a covered outdoor area and pool will be located to the southern side of the facility.

“The addition of a cafe is also a pleasing aspect of this facility. The café will cover 90 square metres and comprise a dining area, kitchen and cold room,” he said.
